You choose – what’s best for you and those you care about.
Once you are over 18, the decision whether to drink or not is up to you. You can choose not to drink at all or you choose to drink within lower risk limits. And, if you start to think that drinking is affecting your life negatively and stopping you from being the person you want to be, you can choose to cut down.
It’s healthy to look out for your own best interests here. Falling down the rabbit hole of excessive drinking can have knock-on effects that no-one wants: day-long hangovers, accompanied by “the fear”, feeling down, poor academic preformance, social isolation, and even damage to your physical and mental health.
You know instinctively what is best for you. Live on your own terms! Feel free to say no to another drink, because you know that your life doesn’t have to revolve around alcohol. There are many other ways for us to have the craic and to socialise and get real pleasure out of life!
